More about the North Shore Art Crawl

The North Shore Art Crawl is a free community arts festival that celebrates the creative energy of our local artists and creates cultural vitality. Our mission is to create approachable and accessible art venues that encourage the community to connect and celebrate expression and diversity. We engage, inspire, and transform the North Shore through inclusive, creative alliances amongst artists and the community. This is a fantastic opportunity for local artists to display their work and to educate the public about their artistic talents. It is a very exciting and novel way to get their names out in the community. For the galleries the Art Crawl is a venue for publicity and a means to attract many different people to your location who are wishing to view and purchase art. For the people living on the North Shore this is a great opportunity to meet many diversely talented artists and view their creations at your doorstep. North Shore Art Crawl Map

Terra INCOGNITA: Art Exhibition Photo Reportage – Opening Night

Posted by on Dec 5, 2012 in Exhibitions, Fine Arts, Recent Posts

Thank you to all my guests for attending the opening of my Terra INCOGNITA show! I feel very inspired by the great positive energy you all brought and shared, and am looking forward to creating a new collection for my next show. Also a special thanks to Amber and Josh from Artstar Props for organizing this fabulous event!

Terra INCOGNITA represented 4 of the series I’ve been working on over the past year. Work displayed on the gallery walls (and some extra pieces) can now be seen on my site at http://www.kira-art.com/. I will soon be posting more information on each series in this collection.

I’ve also designed and published the first volume in my book series covering the work of Terra INCOGNITA. A full preview of this publication is available here for your viewing pleasure. Here you will recognize many of the pieces in the show and discover them in their intended context.

Below is a casual photo reportage covering the opening night with snaps kindly submitted by various guests.

Enjoy!

“I really enjoyed your work. I feel like we have a lot in common after seeing a bit of the world through your eyes and reading the narratives. I am an early morning person too! I really connected with your pieces and hope to see more soon. Congratulations on such a success. I hope you enjoyed every minute of it!” –Janey Chang

Here is what some other visitors have said about the show – on the facebook event page….

And here is the previous post on preparation for the Terra INCOGNITA.

What does it take to be a gymnast?

Posted by on Oct 18, 2012 in Lifestyle, Portraits, Recent Posts

Lena. In between the daily routine workouts…

Gymnastics is a beautiful sport. But what does it take to be a gymnast?

It takes serious determination, passion and dedication, patience and understanding, energy and enthusiasm, creativity and imagination and, of course, a love for sport. The skills require many years to master and usually starts at a very early age.

Lena is a competitive gymnast training with Planet Rhythmic Gymnastics Club in West Vancouver. Gymnastics has been her passion and a big part of her life since she was 5.
